Young FIDSSA 
For all FIDSSA members under 40

 

Vision 

To be a dynamic national and regional next generation society for infectious disease professionals in Southern Africa by fostering active participation among young and early-career members of FIDSSA and harnessing their energy and ideas to develop initiatives that better serve their needs and ensure success in their career

 

Objectives 

YFIDSSA will build on the strengths of young professional from the main FIDSSA societies (IDSSA/ SASPID/ SASCM/ ICSSA) to;

 

●     Share relevant resources, including guidelines, training opportunities, etc., with young infectious diseases professionals

●     Provide opportunities for members to network among themselves, with experts in their field and other young societies through social and academic events and social media platforms

●     Encourage professional collaborations that will enhance members’ careers and assist them in achieving their goals

●     To position young members as successive leaders of the federation through mentorship with leaders in their respective fields

●     To advocate for equity, address disparity and promote representation from all groups  

Current core functions

The YFIDSSA Founding Committee will focus on key FIDSSA priorities;

1. Online Portal Taskforce – a collaboration between YFIDSSA and FIDSSA to develop and create online educational content 

2. Mentorship Taskforce – this program’s mission is to promote the professional development of young and early-career          clinicians, researchers, students, junior faculty, nurses, etc., with emphasis on serving those practicing in low resource settings.
    This task force will work to establish a mentorship program to promote collaboration and individual support for mentees to         develop their career .

3. Webinars Taskforce – members will organise webinars each year with a focus on showcasing YFIDSSA members career outputs.                                                                                                                                                                                                               4. Membership - Membership is open to all FIDSSA members aged 40 years and younger. Membership benefits of YFIDSSA will include. Access to the FIDSSA mentoring program, including the FIDSSA wisdom series, access to FIDSSA’s online education portal, invitation to the
