IDSSA

The Infectious Diseases Society of Southern Africa

The Infectious Diseases Society of Southern Africa (IDSSA) aims to support infectious diseases physicians and allied healthcare workers in the field of adult infectious diseases, providing leadership at a national and regional level.

Our objectives are to advance the understanding of infectious diseases, fostering greater collaboration between clinical- and laboratory-based practitioners and to advocate for increased resources for infectious diseases, developing training units and training programmes within southern Africa.

Ordinary membership is granted to medical practitioners, nurses, scientists, technologists and pharmacists who contribute to the discipline of infectious diseases and who are registered with the South African Medical and Dental Council or other equivalent bodies.

STDSSA

The Sexually Transmitted Diseases Society of Southern Africa

The scientific studies of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) We encourage the teaching of STD in universities, schools of medicine and colleges of nursing.

Other objectives include increasing the public awareness of STD, as well as to promote education and the dissemination of information regarding the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of STDs.


Membership of the society is open to any person who is, or has been, engaged in teaching, research or practice in the fields of STD including medical and paramedical workers, administrators and applied workers in the field.
