A warm welcome to the 2011 FIDSSA Congress website. I hope very much that you will join us in Durban from 8-11 September 2011 for our bi-annual conference. FIDSSA brings together societies representing adult & paediatric infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, infection prevention & control, sexually transmitted diseases and travel medicine. As such, it provides a unique opportunity on the African continent to interact with and learn from members of allied disciplines, both local and international.

The local organising committee is preparing outstanding scientific programme with diverse social events to make your stay in Durban an educational and enjoyable one. The theme of the conference, ‘FIDSSA 4WARD’ denotes FIDSSA’s commitment to build on the strong foundations of its early years towards a truly representative body for Infectious Diseases in southern Africa.

Dear Colleague,

The 4th Meeting of the Federation of Infectious Diseases Societies of South Africa will be held in Durban from the 8 - 11 September 2011. This particular meeting heralds a milestone in the history of this conference, in that it is for the first time it comes to the beautiful city of Durban, in the warm eco- diverse province of KwaZulu-Natal.

The scope of the meeting spans topics relevant to the 6 affiliated societies. In addition, we have an exciting programme of society integrated sessions.
