IDSSA - Overview
The Infectious Diseases Society of Southern Africa incorporating the South African Society of Medical Microbiology and Virology is referred to as the IDSSA
The Objectives of the Society are to advance the understanding of infectious diseases, medical microbiology and virology including promoting the exchange of information relating to all aspects of infectious diseases and medical microbiology and virology. Additional objectives include fostering greater collaboration between the clinically and laboratory based divisions of the disciplines.
Ordinary membership is granted to medical practitioners, medical Scientists, medical technologists, pharmacists and nurses who have made a contribution to the discipline of infectious diseases, microbiology or virology and who are registered with the South African Medical and Dental Council or other equivalent bodies.
